Default Losing brake fluid when cold outside

When the weather gets below zero, It seems like I lose brake fluid . Brake light comes on and brake reservoir is low. No problems when it gets warmer out...
Not sure if it is leaking from the seals below the reservoir or if it gets spilled when I add, but it looks damp under the Master Cylinder. Is it possible to replace the seals under the reservoir or do I need to go with a complete MC?? for now I am just adding fluid as it is -17 degrees outside... It might warm up a bit...

My D2 leaked there but found it because of fluid beneath vehicle on one of our cold mornings. Replacement reservoirs with seals are available as a kit. Search forum as some others found just seals from other mfg applications that supposedly fit D1. Best to clean it up good and verify leak location first. Bright light and a mirror helps. Use a small funnel when servicing to avoid spillage. Lots of good info available doing a search.

Should have mentioned that I inspected lines and calipers last summer and everything was dry, also had a general vehicle inspection, which included pulling the tires and inspecting brakes by a LR specialist and he did not find any issues. My guess is it is the MC seals. I'll start searching for replacement seals and reservoir. Thanks!

This is happening to me this week. I guess due to the cold, the brake reservoir grommets are shrinking and not a good fit. Gonna try to find those two Audi ones and do it this weekend. Was given 893 611 817B as one part number, though can anyone say whether that fits a 97 Disco? Seems good the 95s but doesn't confirm 97. Here I so searching these forums...

I ordered the MC repair kit from Lucky 8 on Wednesday BUT did not have a great initial experience with them.

The "guaranteed shipping" I paid extra for stated Friday delivery, which was great, because it was gonna be in the 60s this weekend. Made sure to be home Friday, no shipment.

Called this morning and was told "oh, we have a four-day processing time, and your order didn't get here till Thursday." So I asked for my money back -- Paypal -- and was told it would come through today.

As the end of the day approached, I knew it hadn't been refunded, so I called. We kind of went over why it might be delayed ("Paypal can take three days" {nope}) and I said let's check, and I was on hold a long time, and was told after holding, "she did it earlier, it ought to come through" and as he said that, BING went my email and the refund came right then, timestamped, showing it had JUST been refunded.

Obviously the billing person forgot and lied and said it had been done, and I would have had to wait another day -- and I HATE making interest-free loans -- to follow up. I don't understand why the billing person didn't value honesty and say, "hey, it slipped my mind, I'm doing it now."

So -- factor in four days extra days, five since they didn't even see the order till a day later -- and if you are due a refund, do check so you can be sure they get to it.

Incidentally, my leak isn't the MC, it's the proportioning valve. Put your hands in there, peeps! It's worth diagnosing correctly.

well, sure, and when the tight fits and absolute lack of visibility yield very little-to-nada in the way of result, try other ways.

I had a leak in my brake system before I put new front calipers in. never saw any fluid when checking them, but after new calipers the leak stopped. just food for thought. I replaced the calipers bc I did the D90 upgrade.
