lost key

Default lost key

say i lost a key to a 94 discovery. any way to remove the ignition with out having to destroy it?

i am going to look at one with a lost key and the gent is willing to let me remove the lock to see how it runs and drives.

any info will be greatly appreciated

The workshop manual is in my signature. You can take the shroud off and remove it.. There was a post with pics on here somewhere, but it may be in the D2 section. We split them up recently and there are still a lot of D1 posts in there...

i found the post of this key deal. sorry to post a question ware some things covered already. the write up i found is pretty nice too.

looks like if i remove the column covers and remove the security bolts the lock comes off the column, then remove two more small screws and i can pull the switch free to start and drive the truck. so looks like it should be a quick task.

You could even jury rig some external switches to use to start it with to avoid the cost of a new assembly.

the disco has no keys none. so i do need to get some made for it. and i will have to choke down the bill when rover parlays how much $ it will be.

but your idea had crossed my mind untill i saw a cracked out meth head in a pos spotting cars for theft. i want to make his job as hard as possible if i don't catch him in the act

you can try getting a locksmith to come and do it i lost the keys to my 98 and i had a guy come to me and he made a key in about 20 mins and only charged me 65 dollars good luck!
