Default Low oil pressure - finally fixed!

As you may remember, I was chasing low oil pressure for some time. On Castrol 10W40, my hot idle was at 15psi, sand only at 32psi at 2500 rpm (should be almost 40psi per book). I changed oil pump, tried different oils, played with pressure relief valve - all standard things you want to do - nothing.
Finally, when i was tackling head gasket change this previous week, I also went with the radiator change. When I pulled out oil lines from the radiator, thick black sludge started coming out from the radiator fittings...I flushed hoses and put the new metal radiator in. Finished the job and bam! Pressure is slightly above 41psi at 2500rpm!
Now, it could be something to do with the head gasket, but i have a feeling that oil cooler inside that old radiator was the problem, especially because of the history of this truck...So while some of you maybe chasing low oil pressure gremlin, don't forget to check radiator too...

Oh wow, i wouldn't have expected that to cause low oil pressure. I'm glad you got it figured out.

Yeah, it wasn't on my "possible reasons for low oil pressure" bingo card either, ha!
