so now im looking at 1. rebuilding it . or 2. buying a used one, replacing all the seals in it and fixing the intermediate shaft leak issue and slammin that sucker back in there

Buy a good guaranteed used one, not one from a 06, I believed that it was either the 95 and or 96 that bad oiling issues at the front in-put shaft and had to be modified to prevent total failures.

so i talked to a guy in Albuquerque and he said my case was cooked , so im on the hunt for one

u aint kiddin, the only other thing i had to do to it was pay 100 bucks for an ECU

ouch, that almost happened to me on the way cross country, leaked almost all the oil out. had it towed 100 miles back to the nearest dealer when it started whining bad(didnt have the tool to get in there and no one else would touch it) and had em refill and drain and fill after driving a couple miles just to flush it out, lots of shavings, but she survived, and finished the trip, and odly hasn'y leaked much since, keep checking to top off, and even after 1000 miles it'll only take 1/4 quart. she whines still, but works. in the mean time i'm searching for a cheap used one too, and so far i've found ones at lkq prety cheap and guaranteed. may want to try them. good luck.
