Default Lug nuts help

96 D1, stock wheels
I've had two shops say they can't rotate my tires because my lug nuts were damaged.
All the caps are loose. But recently had a flat and the tire place managed to put on the repaired tire with
the same lug nuts, albeit capless.
Do I really need a new set? Are the caps purely for looks?
LK8 has a set of steel capless lugs but I gather I can't use them on my stock alloy wheels?
thanks.

RRC are the way to go IMHO solid and no more issues with tire shops!

If you are looking at these then you are correct that style will NOT work with alloy wheels.

Underneath those stupid chrome covers is a regular lug nut. If you have the time you can remove all the covers and it wont cost you a dime.

Edit: Found the video of how to remove them easily

You can also remove the caps right on the hub.
I also have a set of 20 RRC solid steel lug nuts for Alloy wheels I will sell. PM me if interested.

Get the solid ones! or carry 2 lug sockets, one for the covered ones, and one for when the cover comes off...

I was looking at these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LAND-ROVER-....c100752.m1982
I must have mixed up the info as my 1" socket seems to fit the caps, and the 1 1/16" doesn't.
Awesome. Thank you gents for the assists.
