Missing the Courtesy-Light wire?!

SOLVED Missing the Courtesy-Light wire?!
The driver's side door has never activated the courtesy lights, so I decided to remove the courtesy light switch and investigate.
It is completely MISSING the wire!
So, I dug around for about an hour with flexible grabbers and U-hooks trying to fish the wire out of the cavity. But it doesn't appear to be in there.
So, I removed the plastic cover from the driver's side footwell to look for the courtesy light wire (which i've heard is a purple/black wire) which should apparently start near the fuses and enter the cavity described earlier. I don't see the cable.
Can anyone offer any advice in finding where the cable originates and feeding it back into the cavity where I can connect it to the switch?
Any tips or ideas are appreciated

FOUND IT!
I tried again with the U-hook.
This time i checked UP inside the cavity, NOT DOWN.
The correct wire is purpe/green on a 1999 Discovery I
There is a very thick cable running down which is partly in the way, but if you can maneuver around it, I found the cable in about five tries.
All the other forums mentioned a Uhook-fishing method, but none ever mentioned to look UPWARDS inside the cavity.
I stripped the wire, reclamped it, and soldered it. Everything works.
AND NOW THERE IS A HEADLIGHT ALARM?!!? AWESOME!!
