I'm averaging about 13.5 mpg in mixed freeway/street driving. I never run the tank down till the light comes on.. I usually top off at about a quarter tank. It's a habit i got into while driving my corrado with its less than reliable fuel gauge. Ran out of a gas a couple of times and the gauge said i had around 1/8 left.. So i refill at a quarter to full usually about 18-19 gallons..

I noticed a bump up in fuel economy - and then discovered my original fan clutch was just free wheeling......

I'm getting 10 mpg, that equates to 234 mpt.(I think it's a 23.4 gallon tank)

240-250 for me. But i really have no idea what the actual milage would be with different gears and tires throwing my speedometer way off. If I were to estimate it id say real world 175 miles to a tank

These threads are so pointless. It would be a good way to gauge ones mpg/mpt if we were all driving completely stock trucks on stock tires.

How about everybody that has replied to this thread go back and edit their post and add how their truck is set up. Armor, roof rack, lights, lift, tires, etc?

I'm also throwing the BS Flag on these 400-450 mpt guys. The fuel tank on a D1 is 23.4 gallons. A '96s EPA Fuel Economy is 13/15 and a '98 is 12/16. So how in the world are you guys getting better fuel economy out of a 13 year old vehicle than when it was brand new????

You and I own early DI's (for the US at least) that use the more primitive 14CUX engine management system. When these trucks were new they were rated at 12 mpg around town with highway mileage only a little better at 14 mpg. The GEMS version had greater control over all the variables of fuel, air and spark and were able to eek out a bit better mileage. Even then, they're no Prius.

I'm completely stock running passenger stock size tires. No a/c (doesn't work) and it isn't cold enough to use heat yet. Windows rolled up and I still get about 200-230 before the light comes on.
