My first Disco project
Sounds like your having fun, keep up the repairs and the maintaince and your disco will keep on going. I've turned 175k on my odometer and it still runs great. Although the the repairs have been 5x the purchase price. But what the hell, their fun and great work horses!
Hi all,
Been awhile since I have had the spare time and cash to give the disco a little love.Today
I got a small box of parts in the mail.Changed out all the cruise control vacuum lines.Put in a new updated coolant resevior (had the black one)and dropped the oil pan to clean out the sludge and fix a few leaks. I was surprised to find no sludge at all.Just a little discoloration.Cleaned it up and cleaned the pick up. Reinstalled the pic up with a new gasket and lock tight.I used right stuff on the pan and after a test run no leaks so far.Time will tell.Next will be heads and gaskets. Now it is time for a beer or ten!

have one for me
I replaced all the vac lines for my cruise hoping it would fix it. Unfortunately, it did not. Fuses are all good. The unit is under the jack storage compartment on the driver's side; bit of a PITA to get out. Maybe it's bad, haven't been to the boneyard recently to try scoring another one to try out.
Today I changed out the fuel pressure regulator.I had gas entering the vacuum line. It
is a @$*% to get too but she fired right up after. Will go for a test fun this afternoon.

Today I had a few spare hours and decided to start tackling the brake pads, rotors, and wheel bearings. In three hours I got one rear wheel rebuilt. What a pain...but the next one should be a little easier now that I know what I am doing.
You have to admit, it's fun learning these trucks, they're pretty straight forward.
The cruise control always seems to be one of the last projects anyone tackles. It's not crucial to vehicle running well. Anyways, if you've gone through everything and still doesn't work it's the vacuum pump, it's frozen from lack of use. I was able to remove the cover on mine and free the motor's rotor with a few drops of light machine oil. Worked as advertised for three years. I ended up not using it because it wasted more fuel than my foot. It doesn't know when a steep hill is coming and can't run up the speed to climb it......and I have many steep hills here on the two lane state and county highways.

I bought this for a project and admit I love working on it!I read for a good while on this forum before purchasing this one so I knew what I was in for.Don't ask me why but it made me want one more.My wife has quite the opposite feeling about it.
