Default My new to me 1998 Disco

I am super excited about this Land Rover. Things I have done to it so far since buying it on the 2nd of Feb
1 Water pump
2 Viscous Clutch
3 Cooling fan
4 Upper hose
5 Cabin air filters
6 K&N air filter
7 Serpentine belt
8 A couple hood insulation clips that were missing
9 Sun visor clip

Parts bought that I will change soon

1 Oil pan gasket
2 Hood release cable
3 Intake manifold gasket kit
4 Mirror glass mounting adapter when i figure out how

That's it for now but I am sure I will find lots more to change.

K&N filter is a quick way to make MAF very dirty. Some have posted that K&N waranty is void if used off road. I tried the cone head filter, did not see a continuos mpg improvement, went back to stock.

I'm looking at a home business based on a similar "low restriction" filter from "renewable resources" - local Spanish Moss. Low restriction + renewable + no crop foot print + no fuel used in production + international name - can't miss.

What are the chances of a bit of it getting sucked into the engine?

re: What are the chances of a bit of it getting sucked into the engine?

Won't make it past the MAF screen, but Cedric Whistlebritches is ready when it does.

Note: This is not a real product, but is intended to poke fun at the KN people. Here is their warranty from their web site, it is void if used off road. I live in a county with more dirt roads than paved, flat land proudly farmed by growers of underwear (cotton) and cardboard (pine trees by the millions, planted in straight rows by people who own and raise them as a crop).

From the KN web site :

WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY OUR WARRANTY
Any K&N product used for 1: any type of racing or competition; 2: any off-road use, custom or modified applications; 3: any off-road or dual sport motorcycle/ ATV use; or 4: any illegal highway use, marine, or industrial applications. All K&N Air Filters not covered by our million mile warranty are warranted against defective materials or workmanship for one year from date of purchase with no mileage limitation. This includes K&N Air Filters sold for ATV's and off-highway or dual-purpose motorcycles.

Should have done the intake gaskets when you had the system drained for the pump and upper hose. Hope you got valve cover gaskets, do them while it's apart. You'll also want oil and filter change and should do that oil pan reseal right after the intake is done so you don't have to change it twice.

Throw the oil pan gasket as far as you can and get a tube of Ultra Gray Permatex. You'll need a little for the intake job anyway. Make sure everything is CLEAN and dry. I mean brake cleaner clean, block and pan.

Start working on organic gaskets made from kudzu and you're in business!
