Default My Rover Rejuvenation Project

Hey guys. Been lurking on the board for awhile ever since I got my first Disco. This one is number 3. Never posted up a project thread on mine so here goes....

99 Discovery 1. Just picked it up a few weeks ago from a dishonest seller. Rather than dump it off and cut my losses, I've decided to bring it back to life. It runs good. Drives ok. And even has cold A/C. Right now I'm amassing parts and working my way through Mikes 60k list. Mine needs a few extra bits too. Since the PO lied to my face about its condition I will assume it has been typically neglected and commence to doing all the list plus more. I have my Ultragauge in and set up. Any parts I replace that aren't exactly broken yet will be kept as spares.

My goals are simple, I want this to be a dependable daily driver and road trip machine. It will also see consistent desert duty for exploring and camping. Reliability is key here. So I'm going crazy with pre driving maintenance to avoid any possible break downs.

Along with Mikes list I will also be doing:
All four O2 sensors
Pulling the valve covers to asses the sludge situation and replace gaskets.
Rebuilding the front and rear prop shafts
Rebuilding the swivel *****/ replacing bearings and CV half shafts (I have a complete kit left over from my previous disco.)
New battery (haven't decided on brand yet)
Tires
All four sets of pads and rotors
a Terrafirma Lift
Adding some sensible functional lighting
Eventually a full roof rack and a ARB style bumper with a winch
Bedliner on the rockers and hood. Possibly the roof.

This is what Im starting with

First thing I did was clean out the nasty interior and remove the running boards. Gave it a really good bath.

This morning was tire day...jacked it up and took the wheels to pick up my Grabber At2's. I love these tires. I've had them on 4 different trucks and loved the on and off road performance. I upgraded to the 10 ply E rated. Expensive but I think the added load capacity will be worth it. 245/75/16. They are tight with out the lift installed but this isnt moving any where any time soon so I'm not worried.

What's the price, thickness of metal and shipping? Could I have my brush guard welded to it(by other welder)?

Yesterday I found 2 Discos in the Junk yard and pulled a bunch of smaller parts. I got a new spare tire carrier misc interior parts two fog light switches and two power seat switches. Spotted a matching wheel for my spare but no lug wrench to get it off.

Got home and tore apart my rear door since it wont open from the outside. Bad lock solenoid it looks like. Perfect time to mount my new tire carrier. Any ideas if it will be a problem adding my heavier 10 ply tire? I suppose I could add some flat metal on the back side to strengthen it up.

Went to the Junk yard again this morning. Huge score. I got a rebuilt front driveshaft, a matching spare wheel, two rear tail lenses, two rear turn signal lenses, 20 lug nuts, 3 good door lock actuators, rear door door linkage and springs, an oil pan w bolts and a pick up tube, 3 dome light lenses, two pocket fulls of random various bolts/clips and a hard tire cover.

All of this for 120. Worked out nice. I should have 4wd buy this afternoon.
