Thanks! That would be nice but I don't have time. One guy in my class is building a basket for his XJ, but I think if I started building one I'd obsess over the details and take forever.

At least half of us in the class are off-road nuts, it's great. Between the seven of us we've got two Rangers, an XJ, a CJ, my Rover, and a 4Runner (yes that's six rigs but my buddy owns a Ranger and 4Runner, while I own a Ranger and Rover, hence 4/7 = at least half). I've got to finish up the mounting system, latch, handles, and gas strut for my toolbox. If that goes well I may help my buddy build a simple tube bumper for his Ranger.

You might be able to adjust the post that holds it latched (with the spring around it) to hold it more tightly down and level it out...or it might not help at all, but my replacement hood was a tad higher on the pass side and an adjustment helped.

I think this hood is beyond adjustment, according to the PO it blew open in the wind and folded in half. Really do just need a new one.

Still don't have the winch in, but took it for some minor off-road testing. Approach angle seems to be totally manageable. Here are the pictures I promised:

Check with Shaw's in Pocatello. They are connected with other salvage yards regionally and can track down a hood.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give them a call some time.

Great job on the bumper it looks great. Any idea on how much money was spent in material?
