No, it has it's own control box. There is a place by the switch that has a small pop-off cover with I believe an allen head screw under it. It is an emergency thing that you can turn and it will open or close the sunroof.

Out of the repair manual:
NOTE: If the electric motor has failed the
sunroof can be closed manually using an
allen key to turn motor spindle.

anybody know what size allen key (and if it is a allen or hex or torx)? It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep one in the glove box. I'd pop off the trim piece and look but 50% of the time when I remove trim pieces I end up breaking them

Curiousity got the better of me. 4mm allen, turns counter-clockwise as looking at it to close(and luckily didn't break)

6 sided. I must be one of them people. I thought allen and hex wrenches were the same.

its a common misconception..I thought the same thing for years too. You can make them work with each other..but when its raining and your roof is back you probably want to have the exactly right tool

I can just picture some poor guy in the pouring rain prying off the trim cover just to find it's a T22 safety torx or whatever those screws are holding on the DII MAF sensor lol

Oh, like the guy that did my trans filter. Had to drill the heads off the screws after stripping them because he thought they were t25 torx and were really t27

Splain the difference between a allen wrench and a Hex wrench. As a technician I have always referred to them as the same. Both 6 sided wrenches in standard and metric sizes. I have seen some 5 sided wrenches which I have never found out what they were called other than 5 sided allen wrench. I have always referred to a 4 sided wrench as a square drive.
