so i have a little down time, i can't get a picture so ill do the best to describe it.

so i don't know what it is nor what it does. i have a 1999 land rover disco with CDL. this part is on my front axle not on the rear, its round with a cable in there (mind you this part is bent to all hell on my truck so i don't know what it looks like normal). its bolted to my diff between the diff and the sway bar on the right side of the diff. so its a very tight squeeze. i can't tell what it does nor where it was supposed to be. its been rubbing on my steering linkage for a while. don't know if its needed or if i can cut it off and just remove it. this part even bent doesn't seem to hinder any driving ability.

 

It is a driveline vibration damper, the cable is to keep it from crashing through the windshield of the car behind you if it falls off.
Yes you can remove it if you want to.
