Default new to disco and need some insite

hey guys I bought a 1995 disco with a 2" lift real nice ride.

I need a little help with the VSS.

Is there a test to test the sensor. I'm looking for something of a resistance test or something along those lines.

What I want to check is to make sure it's the Vss on the Trans case and not one of the Wheel speed sensors.

I've checked the RAVE and the Haynes manual with no resolve.

Not the kind of guy who throws parts at something.

I have no speedo action and my ABS light is on.

Thanks fellas

You have two issues. The ABS sensors on the wheels are not related to speedo only the ABS system to monitor when one wheel stops spinning to activate etc. The issue is probably one or more of the sensors just needs to be cleaned off. Just pull them out of the housing, they only press in and then clean them off and put them back in.

For the speedo check the wiring to VSS on t-case. If the wiring checks out your VSS is shot.

good luck

Have yoiu checked for fault codes?
Once you get this resolved, go to the sticky at the top of this section and plan on doing my majpr service list, at your trucks age, it will need it.

If you haven't done so already, download the RAVE manual (there are links in Disco Mikes' signature line) Go to the 1995 Electrical Troubleshooting Manual page 114 and you will find the test procedure for the speedo and VSS.
