Talking New to discovery world

Hi All, I just bought a 300tdi disco, I had a 300tdi defender back in 2010 / 2011 but sold it due to having a lot of mechanical problems. Anyway I now bought a discovery and don't really know anything about them.

Can anyone suggest some points that I should take care of (body and mechanical)? What are common problems on the disco and maybe some pointers to watch out from?

Thanks and pleased to meet you all

No idea on the diesel engine but rest is things like service rears and swivels, service trans and t case, check drive shafts, clean grounds, put dielectric grease in any plug connectors to ward off corrosion

Welcome to the board. It is very helpful for us to know what year/model truck you have. The info can be put in your signature using the "User CP" section of the message board. You can find "User CP" just above the "new reply" at the top of this thread.

Also doesn't hurt to put your location in there as well. You'd be surprised at the location specific help you might benefit from.

Timing belt change is critical although if fitted with the updated major kit the period can be extended from that of the manual ( 50-60K miles ), valve clearances are crucial to good performance and smooth running.
Frequent oil changes will help with longevity, otherwise driveline is the same as V8 models and similar to the defender.
They are prone to overheating and cracking heads so coolant hoses, t/stat and coolant would be on my priority list for servicing as well as having the radiator cleaned professionally.
