Default 95' Disco 1 code 44, won't shift past 1st

Hello guys! Long time guest, 1st post. I have a 95 Disco 1 and having an issue... I'm showing a CEL with code 44, and when I drive it will not shift past 1st gear. Checked tranny fluid and all is well.
Previous issues/work:
*Replaced MAF
*replaced ignition coil with MSD Blaster 2 can.
*had issues with vacuum advance unit, replaced it, but now the new one is leaking vacuum ever so slightly already.
*fuel pump wiring burned out, popped my inertia switch as well as the relay
and fuse. Rewired fuel pump, and
replaced relay and fuse. Reset inertia switch.
* In the same instance of the wiring/relay/fuse going out. The butterfly valve got stuck pretty good. No idea why but after a little throttle body cleaner it broke free.
She fires right up now but even after a reset the CEL comes back with a 44 (O2 Left Bank) and it will not shift out of 1st when driving.
Any ideas???? I need her back on the road!

I never had any problems with it not shifting until the fuel pump wiring fiasco...

The CEL is probably a misfire. Check plugs, wiring, timing, etc since you swapped the coil already. Or, it could be the O2. I had one pop up that was a misfire. Trans not shifting is 100% unrelated to any engine codes, most likely a stuck governor. You need to remove and clean it.

Default thanks for the feedback

Yea the timing may be off after fiddling with the distributor when I changed the vacuum advance unit. But as far as the governor, anyone know of any methods to unstuck this thing without removal since it's such a PIA to get to??

Flush it. Let the trans warm up, so I guess drive it around slowly for a few minutes and then let the truck idle for 10-15 minutes. Put it on jack stands, get all 4 tires off of the ground. Disconnect the trans cooler lines. Get some clear plastic tube, let the send line dump into a bucket (low side) and let the return feed from a 5 gallon pail full of fresh fluid.

This will either work, make it worse, or do nothing.
