New expansion tank busted already?!?!?
Bought the cap and tank set from AB, the clear one marked 2011, installed summer of 2011. It worked fine through 100 degree + weather and from my recent trip.
My wife used it around town today, and the tank blew...actually cracked at the seam...
Is there one better than the AB one? Anyone use an aluminum racing one?

Although I don't recommend mix and match to the general masses I did buy a new tank from O' Reily's for a Ford Taurus which uses closed loop cooling. Much, much stronger design, far better cap, cheaper and can find at any parts palace. You'll need to make mounting brackets (easy) for it and loop a few extra ports the Rover doesn't use. Mine has been installed for almost four years now, no issues. I needed one in a hurry when mine blew and never got around to buying the Rover style.
Do you know what your coolant temp has been running at? The Rover bottles get really soft at high temp.

I am running the standard thermo......the temps are solid. Afraid to mess with it....
I am going to try the other type and the OEM cap (instead of the AllMakes). Lets see how long this one will last...

When you consider that "if" more than 15 PSI was involved (and cap failed), coolant temp would have been as high as 265 F (50:50 coolant); so perhaps an exhaust gas in coolant test would be an idea as well.
