thats why I tell everyone to get the regular one, if you wanted a fan to run all the time you might as well put on an electric.

 

We just got back from a 275 mile trip, used 3/4 tank of gas.
200 miles expressway and the rest city/country roads.
Granted on the way back we had a 35mph headwind, but the truck really had to work to climb hills.
I have sent 2 e-mails and this clutch is coming off the truck.
It is sucking to much gas.
I wanted the regular one.

 

Dang Spike I would kill to get 275 to a 3/4 tank. Right now I get exactly 150 to 3/4 tank. Hopefully that will come up some after my t-body cleaning, hooking my MAF back up, and possibly an induction cleaning.

 

Well before my roof rack I got 400+ per tank on trips, 350 as a daily driver.
After the roof rack I lost 1 mpg.
Now with the new fan clutch I am going to go broke.
We have alot of trips planned for this summer including a nice off roading weekend combined with a old engine and tractor show.
That weekend will be 400+ miles round trip.
And if the wifes car is not back in service before our Cedar Point trip that will be another 600 miles in one trip.
This fan clutch is going to bankrupt me.

 

wow that is a ridiculous difference in fuel consumption! makes me wonder, I have noticed sometimes my fuel economy sucks real bad and sometimes it doesn't seem so bad (could all just be in my head though) wonder if something like a faulty component (similar to your overtime fan) could be causing the fluctuation.

I think the head wind is what really killed my mpg but the fan def helped.

 

well there are times when I am going up hill (only when I leave town as it is a truly flat desert here in Phoenix) but the truck seriously struggles going up these hills, like I have to pin the gas pedal to the floor and climb the hill in passing gear or it may not make it! I guess I should say mountains instead of hills (I think its roughly on a 20% grade or better) maybe if I tried not maintaining 65 it wouldn't be so bad.

 

Well that could be a bad tune up, low fuel psi or a locked up fan clutch or a clogged air filter.

When we go up north there is a long steep grade just south of Cadillac, we hit it at 65 and she stays at 65 all the way to the top unless we are pulling the trailer then she will slow down 1-2mph.

When I drove truck if you hit the grade at 65 you would be down to 50-55 before you reached the top.
My ears always pop climbing that grade.

 

spike did you look into the clutch from advance auto? I think mine was $55.

 

Yes I did, but that was a HD one and I wanted a regular one.
I did look up the application for the HD Imperial fan clutch and was going to get the regular duty one but by the time I bought it for $50.
Drove 60 miles round trip to my dads to use his drill (or buy one for $20) plus buy new bolts I figure I would have been at or around the same price as the $80 LR one from Miami Rovers.

However, since I have yet to hear anything back from www.miamirovers.com on returning this fan clutch and getting the regular one I might have to do that and then sell this one.
