I have a 95 Disco with 155k miles I recently purchased a 98 Disco with 140k Both are fixer uppers, but hoping to make one good one out them. So far on my 95 I have replaced the oil coolant hoses, compressor, a/c button (a/c only works on the 1 setting), manifold gaskets, muffler, new fuel tank and lines (done at dealer) and new o2 sensors. I've noticed some wetness around engine so I am assuming I have a small leak of some kind. (told that could be a small issue). My current problems include 3 non-working windows (need regulators and motors) damaged dashboard and center console (damaged during theft) Damaged paint job on hood and roof. Broken rear door latch. Jerking while attempting to brake at times when abs is engaged (currently riding with abs fuse removed) My plan is to take the parts I need off the 98. The 98 has a much nicer interior and I plan to swap the seats. I had a hard time figuring out how to install window regulators because they were gone when I got it. Thinking just replacing the doors all together. Chose to upgrade the 95 instead of the 98 because I am more familiar with it and have put quite a bit of money into it. I have joined the forum after watching and reading for months and have received valuable info. Now I'm ready to take it to the next level. Open and appreciative of all help. Thx look forward to feedback !

Welcome! We're new here as well but can probably answer a few questions and lend some advice. I'd be willing to bet you're leak is your valve covers, grab yourself an 8mm 12 point and snug them up. That rear door was a problem on our 98 and it ended up just needing some wd40. Pop off the little Land Rover logo above the license plate and soak the crap out of everything inside with wd40 or pb blaster. Work it a bit or just wait overnight and your handle will more than likely free up and work just fine. Sounds like most of what you have going on can be done on the cheap or even for free which is always nice. Ours was a basket case when we got it a week ago, a little fiddling day by day and most of the issues it had were fixed for no cost at all.

Be sure to download the RAVE manual set, it has a body and interior manual that will help. I was able to use a passenger seat for my driver's seat, the lumbar **** will clear the door pillar. Easier to find good passenger seats.

Thx, The back latch trick was one of the first great tips I got off this forum. I was able to get the door open but only from inside, when trying to open from outside the handle simply stays up. Will definitely tightened up the valve covers. @ Buzz I just got a 98 disco with nicer interior and was under the impression they could fit in my 95 ? Yes I just downloaded the service manual (since it was a must on the newbie list) when I registered last night. Hadnt had a chance to jump in it yet. Thx for the reply I have read a lot of your other thread responses and feel privileged you took time to respond to a newbie ! next up : replacing dashboard, center console, radio and a/c unit !

95's up to a certain VIN have different window regulators, after that VIN they should be the same as the 98.

Yea our back handle does the same thing. You really have to soak the handle and latch and keep working them to free it up.

I think you may be correct on 98 - 95 swaps, but stay away from D2 to D1 swaps, seats are all different, brackets don't match, etc.

So yesterday my battery light came on my 95 disco. Since I just bought a new battery last week , my first thought was alternator. Alternator was good but I noticed the link under the main link from the battery was not "hot' remembering an old trick I saw my uncle do I connected a piece of wire from the main battery connect to the plug in wire underneath. My battery light did go off. . . for a while then came on and off again. I did clean my motor in an attempt to locate a leak in between time. After letting the truck dry out I cranked up and to a trip across town. Once I tried to crank up and leave. . nothing as in bad battery. Attempted a boost off that worked but not 10 sec later the car quits. Now it wont start and wont staying running after boost. lost ?

Welcome, fellow 95 Disco owner here in Clarksville, TN. I love mine, and spend way too much time on it. But it is a labor of love.
