Now you need an OBDII code scanner/reader. When the check engine light is on, you have a code. If you find out the code and post it on here, someone will chime in.

So, I've been out of town and haven't had a chance to take it to get codes read but...

One of the guys at my shop was messing with the Disco while I was gone. It doesn't even have to heat up to not start. It will fire right up, turn it off, it will sort of start again for about 5 seconds then stall. Won't start again after that. There's a valve like a valve stem on the fuel rail. He noticed that the cap was off and it was clean. (Previous owner must have known this trick). He pumped it up with a bicycle pump and she fired right up.

??????

So, the fuel pump, coolant sensor, FP regulator, plugs, wires, t-stat, battery, ALL fluids, brake pads, and serpentine belt have been replaced. She's getting a set of 245/75/16 Goodyear MT/Rs installed as soon as they get here from Mobile (Friday).

I'll post up a pic or 2 once the new shoes are on. Then thing fires right up (repeatedly!) and runs like a champ.

Can't wait to get this thing in the woods.

Congratulations! Sounds like your $800 Disco is working out just fine, although I suspect the investment, like my own $700 Disco, is a bit more than that by now. Running and driving is the important thing, and hopefully the other items will prove easy to fix as well.

I'm about $600 in on parts, another 4-500 in fluids, battery, labor, and the dang Goodyears are just a tick over $1K, so yeah, this $800 truck is costing some money! I think I've replaced/changed most of the things that could reasonably be foreseen as issues. If it runs for a few years I'll still be way ahead of the game had I bought one of the more common hunting vehicles.

Yep, I am up to about $260 (not counting registration and insurance) in new parts and fluids and about 2 weeks of my labor (free, of course) with fog lamps, rear view mirror, hood cable, and maybe sun roof motor yet to go. Fortunately the tires are good enough so far, so less than $1000 doesn't seem too bad, and getting another education in British engineering - priceless. Even the Scotts decided to stick around the UK.

BTW, I've heard that the Irish invented the bagpipes and gave them to the Scotts, but the Scotts never got the joke.

Those 245/75s really fill up the wheel wells

I have a little rub on the right front with the plastic return piece on the bumper. Should be easily solved with a razorknife.

These MT/Rs should be just what the doctor ordered for my AO.

Does anyone know if the stock steel part (center) on the front bumper is stout enough to weld to? I wouldn't mind just adding to it to get what I need on the front end instead of spending big $$$ for an aftermarket setup.
