Default New Oil Leak

Guys,

I have pics of a new oil leak on my 97 Disco I. Oil is pooling up as the pics show on top of the water pump housing looking from front with hood up.

What is most likely cause/fix?

Spike, is this where you said your block was leaking and you smeared sealant to stop it?

Any and all help is appreciated as always.

tighten your valve covers first. Then if it is still leaking, replace the valley pan gasket.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I keep cleaning it up. It is on my list of projects this winter, along with head gaskets (seeping coolant).

Ok, good helpful information. Anybody have any detailed info about this replacement?

Any other good things to do with it apart to whatever degree the valley pan gasket requires? I am totally ignorant of what is involved so any tips would be helpful.

I will try to do some good photos and pull together whatever info I come across if you want it for a sticky unless there already is one.

Also, those of you who have done it, where did you get the best price on the required parts and pieces?

I have a slightly different question to regarding pics/albums. Are we limited in the total number of pics we can post in Albums? I have several good ones from a Car Cruise I attended yesterday at he local American Legion. No Rovers but some unbelievable cars were there. I even left my Rover at home and walked since it's only two blocks away and the cars of people attending almost reached my driveway at the peak of the crowd.

x2 on tightening the valve covers just to rule it out. as far as pics start a photobucket account and put pics in there then you can put a link to it in the forum or cut and paste the imige code and it will appear as a pic in the forum, its alot better cause it can handle larger pics so you don't have to shrink them just to upload them.

Guys,

I did a search on the valley gasket replacement parts and came up with this: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...ld_gasket.html

Does that look right? Any other goodies to do while I am in that far?

. that looks like thr right stuff....since the coolant will be out of it, now might be good time to check / replace the radiator/heater hoses and thermostat
