Yeah, Colorado is the worst. I've gotten a new windshield every year for the past 3 years. Without insurance covering it I would still have a broken window.

I'm looking at changing my insurance. I've had progressive since 1999 and have never made an insurance claim and have no tickets on my record. I have full coverage with comp on my mini cooper. I called yesterday to add my new to me 98 disco with comp and collision. They wanted to nearly double my rate to add another vehicle. I was like why is that I don't drive both at once.

I asked if I could just add glass coverage to liability and they said no.

I had progressive before Geico. My wife got in a small fender bender. First claim ever on my insurance where it was our fault. Progressive raised my rates $100 per month. I laughed and switched immediately. Geico was not only cheaper for the same coverage but told me the accident only added $5 per month to my policy.

Sounds like it's time to shop around.

FWIW I found Geico to be the cheapest for me.

Progressive and Gieco cant touch my rate.
With Nationwide the longer you are insured with them the lower your rate.
Every year you have vehicle "A" insured your rate on that car drops by a % and after 5 years that same car drops by 10%.
BUT if you drop that car you start all over again.

Most glass shops waive your glass deductible if you have one upto $250.

X2 Spike - my deductible and rates are lowest with Nationwide - and I shop around at least every 2 years, but have not changes in over 10.

I have State Farm and they just replaced my windshield, which is heated. Long story short I have a heated screen on my rig and they replaced it no questions asked, no deductible. Here in Florida all insurance companies have to provide for windshield coverage if you have full coverage. That being said, they were trying to put a chinese piece of crap on my truck and went through two windshields in the process as they both cracked. One cracked the day after the install, and the other during the second installation. Two days later they finally decided to put an OEM LR windshield from Pilkington on my rig and it went in without a hitch, no cracks, no worries. Be leary of chinese windshields....
