No codes.
After getting a consultant done with a very high dollar scanner, the 1998 disco did not send any information to the scanner. The mechanic said it was the "computer" that was faulty, any ideas on what specific component he was referring to?
a generic scanner (not the high dollar ones) may not be able to read the "manufacturer specific" codes, as well as some of the ABS and transmission codes. a 1998 probably doesn't have the ABS or Transmission codes and there is probably a way to get them without a scanner. I have an Autel scanner and it seems to do the job for what I need. Look for one that can display 'Live Data' Computer problems require a specific scanner system to diagnose and fix.
I have one, it shows the misfire codes and such, but the one he used was Bluetooth and costs about 5 grand. It said that it wasn't getting any information from the vehicle which is why he said it was a computer issue. He also expressed his hatred for land rover as a brand so he didn't want to spend too much time on it. The disco acts like it's not getting fuel or air even though the fuel pressure is good. The mass air flow sensor is next on the list to try to see if it helps anything.
You’re going to have to explain more about what the problem is that lead you to need a scan diagnosis in the first place.
What do you mean your Disco “acts like it’s not getting fuel” when you have good fuel pressure? Are your fuel injectors working? What RPMs is your truck idling at?

firstly, I'd run out and buy something like this and mount it on your dash somewhere. UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center UG gives you realtime data directly from the OBD2 port. Get the hardwired version.
Once you have realtime data from OBD2, you'll be able to view whats going on with your TPS and we can start to help you debug from there. I've seen a lot of TPS' break.

There is no ecu for the transmission like on the d2, so no codes there.
Speed sensor is in the transmission and any issues with it are read through the gems.
