no more cats

*** NOTE *** The 94 -'95 DI's do not have O2 sensors downstream from the cats. Only two upstream to sense O2 levels from the manifold... the only purpose of the "rear" O2's is to confirm proper function of the cats.
This was a performance / cost based decision. No need to replace cats ever again due to rich running killing the cats and a noticable difference in throttle response and power at lower end of power-band.
No issues with ECM since it was unaffected by this modification... it still received the O2 signal. In fact, I have noticed a slight increase in MPG.
F the Govt for putting Ethanol in my gas!!

I'm lucky, and have multiple stations around me with no eth gas, I normally use 93 from chevon, just seems to run better.
On the cat/o2 issue, its a road I have been down a few times.
First off, I live in Dade County GA and it is legal to remove the cats here. Anyone will do it for you not a big deal at all. (Yes I understand that the law is federal, but I also don't see a lot of feds running around here checking)
Ok, that out the way, I removed the cats/p2's from my 99 Salty, didn't seem to make much differance, but the truck was a pile to begin with.
On my 96, I ran it back and forth to the shop for a total of about 50 miles with open headers... honestly, not that much difference, just a LOT louder. Have a new set of magflow cats, and a flowmaster 50 under it now and the o2 hooked back. Still having a tuning issue I hope to solve this week.
For anyone wanting to remove the rear o2 correctly I do have a set of computer chips that replace them. They simulate the heater etc so you get a correct reading. I was going to use them, but ended up just putting the cats on. I want 100 bucks for the pair, but in no hurry to get rid of them as I might use them on the next rover I buy, since I plan on it being a woods trucks.
