Default Nuts have been polished

Ok, if you have been following this https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...-polish-51217/ here is the follow up from me.

I started with 20 of these.

I soaked them in this for a few hours and then rinsed with clean water.

I then stuck them onto the spare tire carrier, I left the spare tire on.
And wire wheeled them with the drill.

This is how they turned out.

I did wire wheel two without soaking them in the metal polish to see if there was a difference, the only difference was they came clean alot quicker after soaking in the metal polish.

Here are pics of the same wheel with the original tin capped lug nuts and the polished Range Rover Classic lug nuts.
Can you tell the difference?

I was skeptical at first but those turned out really well. I wonder how they'll hold up to the Michigan winters, though?

As was I.
I dont know how well they will hold up, they are old and most of the chrome plating is worn off, but hell, if I have to wire wheel them once a year who cares?
Now that all of the thick tarnish is gone they should clean up nice and easy next time.
That metal polish really did a number on the tarnish, they were almost shiny after soaking for a few hours and then rinsing.
Total time today was maybe 2 hours not including the soaking time.
Rinse off polish, spin on spare mount, wire wheel, remove, rinse, let air dry, install.

So these were chrome plated? You have removed the plating so what keeps them from rusting? If they were stainless; I would not expect them to be chrome plated. I guess you could have them zinc plated or electroless nickle plated.

I assume it is/was chrome plating, most of the plating is worn off on most of the lug nuts.
I do not know exactly what they were coated with.
