O2 Sensors
I'm not getting any codes but I have 114K on the clock and still running the original O2 sensors - have two new NTK 25017's laying around - was thinking of changing out the upstream sensors - LR has a maintenance schedule showing a change at 90-100K - anyone else change them for maint. instead of waiting for a failure ?
They weren’t that difficult to get out. I was ready for a fight but I put an end wrench on it and a couple hits with a dead blow hammer to the wrench and out they came. I did soak them with WD40 first. The hardest part for me was getting the connectors apart. I bought the extension harness off Amazon just to make it easier if I have to replace them again.
My understanding is O2 sensors clog over time and make the car run rich because it’s clogged and thinks the exhaust is lean. Which in turns decreases gas mileage. Perhaps this is why I gained a couple MPG when I changed them out.

Don’t underestimate attaching the new sensor wire clips. I’m a noob, but it took me a very long time to snake my hand around the back of the engine to blind reattach the new wire harness clip. Maybe there’s a trick to it, but I just did it through trial and error.
I’d say the same thing as Walt, if it ain’t broke… but if a 2mpg increase is pretty normal after a replacement, it would be worth it. Has anyone else had a similar fuel economy gain? (I won’t be changing mine unless there’s a pretty good consensus that the fuel gain is significant).
