I went from 11 mpg to 12 after replacing all four O2 sensors. 189k miles.

1 mpg would be closer to what I would have expected. I’m still with Walt, if it ain’t broke…

I would change them, but that is just how I do things when I buy an old car. Old sensors become sluggish due to contamination build up on the sensor ceramic cones. Be sure to monitor O2 voltages before and after replacement. New sensors should tend to modulate faster, meaning tighter control of the mixture and better fuel economy. Would you like to save 10 to 20% on fuel?
