Default OBD II Scanner

Which code scanner would be best for scanning a 1997 Disco?

They are not year specific other that as long as the vehicle is a 96 or newer, they will be OBD2.
That being said, depends on what you are wanting to do and your experience with a scanner.
A good Scanner, my choice, is the Innova 3130 found on Amazon for around $130.

i like the ultragauge. fairly inexpensive and you can set it up to monitor quite a few sensors in real time, the real coolant temp being one of the more important ones. has saved me a few dollars and helped narrow down some preexisting problems.

I ordered the Ultra Gauge, we'll see how it does.

Thanks

The UG will make it easy to watch coolant temp, you can see on this pix that scanner and gauge might not read what you would think. Scanner speak the truth.
