Default Off-Road lights

When I got my Disco1, it has a set of FET high intensity off road lights. They are wired to only be able to turn them on when the headlights are on which is fine by me. BUT.. when the left one is on high, the right one is on low, right one is on high, left is on low.

Is this just someone messing up the wires or is there an advantage to this setup?? Hard to believe someone could have made this mistake.

I don't use them much but they are nice in heavy snowstorms and foggy nights when I am the only one on the road.

I'm not family with those lights. Can you be more specific with the setup?

The previous owner didn't know how to wire them.
Your best bet is to run new wires to an always hot switch straight from the battery.
