Oil Pressure Test

Oil Pressure Test
So this is a stupid question, I am sure. I am trying to do a manual test of oil pressure. Brought out my trusty Oil/Transmission Pressure testing kit aaaaand none of the adapters fit where the vehicle's (a 1996 Discovery) pressure sender unit screws into the block.
A brief online search told me that the thread pitch and size of the sender is 1/2" X 20 UNF and I've spent the last 24 hours searching for SOMETHING that can adapt to my gauge. I've got nothing.
So, I figure I'm doing it wrong. Can someone point me in the right direction on how I may manually test oil pressure if not using that spot? Should I be using the oil cooler line? Maybe a t-junction?
Any insight is appreciated.
