Default Has anyone performed an oil pressure test themselves?

If so, how did you do it? Disco II input preferred, but all help appreciated.

Sorry I have not done it on a Disco before but I have done it on a Allis Chalmers that we used to own.

Hook up your oil PSI tester, start the stone cold because it sat all night engine, right down the PSI.
Rev it to 2000 rpm, record your PSI.
Let the engine idle until hot, check idle PSI.
Rev hot engine to 2000 rpm and record the PSI.

that methodology is consistent with what mike suggested. any ideas on what pressure values to expect?

regarding the test equipment, I found a metric adapter from summit that is 12mm x 1.5, so I think that will work. if I run the gauge off that adapter and leave the original sensor unplugged, will I run into any problems? if the indicator light defaults to off, I could use the new gauge permanently.

I have no idea what the PSI should be but LR uses a low pressure high volume oil pump, so dont expect 60 PSI.
When you test at 2000 rpm you will need to hold that engine speed for like a min to allow the psi to settle.

The oil light uses a on/off type of sensor, you have adequate psi,no light, inadequate psi, light.
There is a thread about adding a oil psi gauge to a 2003, I will look for it and add it to this post.
Unless somebody else finds it before me, dinner is ready.
