Default OK Introducing The latest project!

Here she is, finally sitting in my driveway, the source of my soon to be grief and sorrows. 1995 D1.

Has Factory running boards, rear air with one of the jump seats, A 5 SPEED...

The battery I took to test it is to big, but I jumped it off my truck and drove it to the spot where I'll be working on it under my favorite tree. defiantly some sort of noise from engine, but not exactly sure at this point. no smoke or anything which is a good sign I guess.

Going to the a LONG drawn out rebuilt, as I'm working on 2 other projects before it, but it should end up being a nice ride.

Looks good, Slang's favorite color.

You want to trade your 560SL for my 97 DI?

My favorite car that I have ever owned was my 420SEL. Would love an SL. There is a 560 SEL I have my eye on when the old lady around the corner decides she is ready to let it go! It is Black as well.

I figured after the way you gave Brandon such a good deal on that other Disco that you would be willing to give me a Benz for my DI! It doesn't have to be a 560 SL though that would be really nice of you!

Ya, Brandon's d1 was a good truck. That's the one the wife was really upset with me letting go. So, I'm making it up to her with this one. She like a manual shifter better also and basically told me to buy it when I showed her the ad for it.

Talking with the pervious owner, he had it the last 4 years. Replaced the head gaskets, injectors, put a new fuel pump in etc. said he ran sea foam and ended up having to drop the pan multiple times due to fall out and plugging of the oil pickup line. Says the engine started to overheat again, and has lifter noise... And, there is noise, I'll video it tomorrow. He got tired of putting money in it and let it go to me.

Says the trans catches second, like the synchro is going. So might require a rebuilt.

So, it could be another interesting fix, since I could be dealing with his fixes plus issues that might have existed before.

I think your wife should beat you severely! I know of a pristine Navy Blue DII but it is an automatic as well.

She should take away your 560SL.

Those German made MB's are awesome. I keep seeing several really nice ones. My W126 was awesome, one of the version just prior to that would be nice as well. But that 560SL is a true classic.

I have to agree on the 560sl. Nothing else out there like it. Mb got everything right with it. Of course, they had an 18 year production run on that body to work out all the details. At 5'2 she is almost to short to drive it, having to lean up to see over the dash. Even with the seat fully raised.

I've never had a DII. I like the interiors on them etc, but like the d1 better overall.

I think Bad To The Bone is a pretty good basic description of the 560SL. I see a lot of 450SL's and 380SL's even some nice 560SEC's that look sharp but I wouldn't hesitate for another SEL either. For a large car, those were beasts.
