Default ole smokey

Purchased a 96 disco from my brother with the RH head removed due to a broken intake valve. I replaced the valve, lapped it in, replaced the stem seal but I am burning oil like mad. I will use 2-3 quarts in 500 miles. I did a compression test to see if the rings were bad but got a 162 on the test. All the plugs except #8? look great but I foul that plug with oil quickly. All that said this is my first discovery and I love the machine but don't have any experience with them, any thoughts on the oil consumption?

It is possible to have a stuck oil ring, and still have good compression. (but I don't know if that's common on these trucks... how long did it sit with the head off?) How did that cylinder compare to the others as far as the compression test?
