Default Out of my D1 before I ever got in

Well I guess I will not be building a (free) D1 as of now after all. I had lunch with a relative today and found out my 23 year old cousin lost his job. He sold his truck yesterday and most of his fun possessions (toys) to get out of debt and make ends meet. He is going to need a car and is a very hard worker, so his brother and I are putting a tcase in the disco Saturday and changing all of the fuids/filters and giving it to him.

That being said, I am now on the lookout of another D1. I really got excited about this truck. I was planning to build up my D2 and get my wife something new, but with this opportunity I decided I would rather buy a D1 and not take on debt of a new truck for her. There are several used ones in GA so I'm starting the search this week. What should I pay for one of these trucks in descent condition. Not looking for perfect but also not crap. Sorry for the long winded post!

I paid $2800 for mine with 127k, running smoothly and checked out by an indy LR mechanic. It was by no means perfect and required some minor work (which knocked down the price and was essentially free to repair), but it's been fun. Just be patient, find one that's in good mechanical condition, and get it inspected by someone who knows LR's before you jump in.

Sorry you had to lose the D1 but in the end it will all work itself out, but helping someone out in that situation is always a great thing.

I wouldn't spend more than $2000 for a D1. Every so often I browse through the CL ranks looking for something that will catch my eye. Anything 98 or lower is usually around $2000 or less with high miles. Good luck with the search, let us know how it goes!

Thanks spike, he would have done the same. Unfortunately there are not a lot of jobs on the small town we grew up in (he still lives there) but he'll get back on his feet. He's a pretty smart kid.

Savannah, I'm going to try to get him to join. He's not much of a computer guy, but if I know my rovers he'll be here soon enough. The funny thing about this whole situation is the uncle is on my dad's side, and the cousin is on my mom's side and they don't know each other. Someone was looking out, because the timing is very ironic.

Thank for the pricing advice guys, I am hoping to get the wife on board. This will probably work out for the best as I really want a 5spd and there are a few in GA on craigs right now!

I bought mine from a guy in Lawrenceville for $2,450.. with roughly 145,000 miles on it. I got lucky as far as mechanical goes. Great truck!

He was asking $2,900 but he had told me it was a 2000 D2... hell I didn't know. Lol
