Default p1316 code after oil change

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'll provide as much info as I can.

Basics:
98 Discovery, automatic
117k Miles
I'm the 2nd owner, purchased a year ago.
Always keep levels topped, new oil every 3k, and use 93 gas.

Over the holiday weekend, I took the disco to a Pennzoil 10 minute place to get a new filter and had them change my oil. I usually use Rotella or Brad Penn and do it myself, but they put in Pennzoil 10w30 for winter time. I wasn't going to argue since I was pressed for time and planned on using my preferred brand next time.

This was on Friday, drove to my wife's family's house (12 miles) and then back home (15 miles). On the way home, CEL came on. I threw a code reader on it and got p1316. It's stalling out (when first starting) and idling rough. Temps going up quicker than normal (coolant level is good).

Any thoughts as to what might have caused this? I can't think how an oil change would trigger misfires and an emissions fault? That said, it's pretty hard for me to chalk this up to coincidence.

Not sure if it is relevant, but their bill says they only put 5 quarts in. I know it takes 7. I checked the oil level, and it seems a tiny bit low, but not bad. They charge for over 5 quarts, so I don't know if they didn't put enough in, or were just being nice and didn't charge for the extra 2 (hard for me to believe)?

Any and all thoughts and comments welcome. Please let me know if I've left out anything that may help form a hypothesis.

check to see that all your plug wires are seated correctly. the shop may have accidentally pulled one loose.

do a search for "p1316" on this site. there are several threads that will be helpful.

It was a coincidence. The plug on #8 was fouled.
