Default P1316 code after an overheat

Hello All,
Last week before my new radiator arrived I was out and about when the engine temp started to climb. I pulled over to cool down. When I restarted the car the check engine light came on with the error code P1316. Aside from that I now have a ticking sound, and the car doesn’t sound happy

I just did these today:
New Spark Plugs .035 Gap
New Plug Wires
A bottle Techron
Cleaned MAF
Changed the oil
Changed transmission fluid

I Cleared the engine code and it hasn't returned, but the car is running rough. It stalled a few times.
What am I missing now?
What should I be looking for?

Thanks in advance!

WTF, over 100 looks at your post and not even a guess! I hope you have this problem sorted by now, but if not......
The stalling/rough running is most likely from the new plugs and/or wires.
What brand/type of plug and wire set are you using (this matters)?
Did YOU check/set the gap for all 8 plugs yourself?
How old are the coils?

Things to check:
> The routing of the sparkplug wires.
> Do the connectors/boots click tight onto the plugs AND coils? I can't tell you how many times I've seen people have this problem.
If you can't feel a "positive click" when the wires are attached, this will cause all kinds of run issues.
Another thing, if you are using grease on the boots go very easy with it!
Too much and the boots slip off easy, especially if there is air trapped in the boot (happens more on the coil side).

Back to the plug brand, I like STI.....they never give me an issue. As for plugs, it's NGK only for me.

Hello and Thanks for the response as usual OverRover!
The issue is still there.
So I checked the plug wires and everything seemed fine.
I took it out for a test drive and it started running more rough after 10 minutes. The engine temp began to climb so I pulled over and noticed that plug wires #1 and #3 had popped off the spark plug. Re-seated the plug wires to the spark plugs and it started up but still rough, while giving only the P1316 error code. Felt like the engine was going to stall and it did a couple if times going home. I also noticed that if the truck comes to an abrupt stop it would stall out.

The new plug wires are from KOI and for the D1.
The new plugs are Champion and I have another set of AutoLites

I just ordered the plug wires you mentioned with their life time guarantee.
I gaped the plugs to .035
Not sure how old the coils are. I've had the truck since Jan2016
Some of the plugs really are snapped onto the plug and coil while a couple others dont seem as firmly connected no matter how much of a press or twist I apply.

Thanks

Lemme make sure I have this straight... Truck ran hot. You let it cool. Upon re-starting you had a P1316 and a tick.

Next you replaced plugs, wires, fluids, and cleaned the MAF.

Then, after you performed these maintenance services the truck ran rough and would stall.

If that is correct, I'd first check wire routing and take a close look at the #8 plug which can be difficult to seat properly.

Clear the code and see if it re-appears after a couple of drive cycles.

Then I'd unplug the MAF to see how it runs. Perhaps you knackered it up.

I got the plugs OverRover suggested in route. Until than I took off the new KOI plugs.
To anyone reading this post be very cautious and do not get these 7mm plugs from KOI.

A simple tug and they can be pulled apart. I was surprised how thin the wire is inside, and yet it is still coated in another black insulation

This just in ...... those ignition wires WIN the POS of The Month Award.
All the box is missing is a Britpart or Allmakes sticker.

I know you will like the Karlyn/STI wires.
Have a look if you want more info about Karlyn Products > Karlyn/STI Spark Plug Ignition Wire Sets

This is one time I wouldn't mind being punched in the nose for buying what I now know is crap.

I can't wait for the new wires to arrive. Still stalling with the P1316 error, no other errors.

Thanks for the link, I'm all on it!

**UPDATE**
The new plugs are scheduled for tomorrow.
I drove two miles from home and the car stalled and simply stopped. I couldn't get it started, engine wouldn't turn over. Fully charged dual batteries and it didn't click or anything, just a tiny vibration in the moment of turning the key.

Had the truck towed back home...

Help Help
What should I now be looking for now?
Help

Thanks

Plug wires arrived a few minutes ago.
They feel like quality and the weight is much more than the crap I previously posted.
As mentioned the Rover was towed home yesterday with a no crank condition...
