Default P1317 Procedures TIB - Did the fix work for anyone?

I am trying to fix the one last code my Discovery has, P1317. I already searched the forum, but just discovered a TIB for this code. According to the bulletin, cycling the ignition switch can force a communication error between the GEMS ecu and ABS ecu which sets the code and turns on the MIL. Has anyone had their PROMs replaced under this TIB? If so, did it cure the problem? Vehicle is a '96 SE7 5-speed, currently no ABS codes and ABS worked perfectly today in 15 inches of snow. Any help will be appreciated!

I have the same issue. I have not changed the proms and I'm a little unclear as to what they are.

My mechanic said they are the connectors to the ECU, is that correct?

If do, does the wiring harness need to be replaced. Would love to get rid of this CEL...

PROM >>> programable read only memory .....it's the replaceable / re programable "chip"in the computer.

There is a procedure outlined in the TIB, I have a copy but don't know if it's okay to post it here. I still have to check and see if it was done to my truck, there's a service campaign sticker on the core support but I don't know what it's for. Plus, for whatever reason I no longer have that trouble code.

GEMS8 uses two EEPROMs (E2PROM) and they are socketed which means they are removable. Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. A corrupt file erasure, a new file, overwrite file, restore or remove can take place on these. A little more sophisticated than just an ol PROM.

So the big question? How do I fix it/reprogram it/replace it?
