Default Pass side front window ** FIXED**

I got a rare chance to work on the Disco I yesterday, the Passenger side front window doesn't want to work.I tried changing the window switch with one of the other windows that does work, and the other window works ( switch is OK) and the switch I changed the front window to doesn't activate the pass window.

I do hear a relay click under the dash when I activate the switch, but no window movement. As I understand the circuit, the switch changes the ground from the window so is it fused separately? It doesn't seem to be per the wiring diagrams,. It does look to go through the window computer. I did do the wiring bypass for the rear windows and they are working good. Is there some sort of fix for the front one too? Just looking for a little guidance here. Thanks!

The rollers in the lift are probably broken. Common problem. Pull the door panel and check them out.

Thanks! I'll keep those on hand. first I need to get the front axle fixed up as that is a bit more important. I can drive with the window closed, but not with the wobbly front end.

Oh I have the same problem as far as two of the windows not coming down but I have bigger things to fix.

Sounds like it! I did the rear window wiring bypass in the ECU and it is still working good.

Today my replacement window switches arrived. I replaced all 4 of them on the console between the front seats, now 3 of the 4 windows respond immediately when I open or close them. The old switches had a hesitation, or I would have to work the switches a few times to get the windows to move. Still need to pull apart the pass side front door. That is next on the list! I did replace the switch anyhow just so I knew it was good.

This morning I dis-assembled a few of the switches for the windows that are on the front seat console and found that they can be taken apart and reassembled easily. No hidden springs that fly out and disappear. The switches were contaminated inside and after a good cleaning, they seem to work much better. When they were on the truck, I could cycle them back and forth a few times to get them to work, sometimes just holding them for a bit would make them work too. After cleaning, they work right away and seem to work immediately when being pushed, which is a good thing. so now I guess I have a few more spare parts for the pile.

being unable to sleep because of my knee does have a benefit I guess...

I removed the door panel on the pass door, and unplugged the motor. Across the terminals I get 5.7 volts. When I jumper 12v directly to the motor, it moves fine up and down. Sounds like an ECU problem under the glove box..

** Update**

removed the glove box, and the lower panel, pried out the ECU and found a dry solder joint where one of the wire links attached to pin#1. also found the broken solder joint for the back windows (previously fixed with a wire bypass) and fixed that too. Windows all work now!!

On to the cruise control (maybe)
