Passenger seat trim removal?
Check the seam sealant where the front wings meets the body - - is likely dry rotted. you need to pull the fenders to see the seam. My 98 had this and the seam sealant was toast. And the splash guard is riveted in - thank Rover!
I'd suggest fixing the rust now, not only do you have the carpets out to dry, but the rust will only get worse over time which will necessitate you having to cut out and weld in replacement panels to fix the floorboards = $$$ down the road.
