Sorry to hear you have had enough of this rover. I think everyone was pulling for you to figure this out.

It's not as bad as you think. You would almost have to ride in it in person. Don't judge it by the crappy mic on that camera. The sound it puts out is actually pretty mellow.

Hmmm.

I've had 3 offers on this truck already in the last 24 hours, including the guy that's working on it. Tempting.

You still have not tried putting a stock exhaust back on. I'd bet you a donut it is the exhaust.

As much as I wish it was his exhaust I don't see how it's even remotely possible.. I know back pressure blah blah. Well too many drive with no exhaust or straight pipe for that to be true. Not to mention he has cats and a muffler. Hehas back pressure. If it has anything to do with the exhaust it most likely ain't back pressure

He said himself, the problem apeared after the headers and exhaust was put on to replace the cracked manifold. So one would safely assume that restoring the vehicle to it's stock exhaust would make the engine run correctly again.

No the problems cropped up driving it back and forth to get the exhausts work done. Intitially, it the very limited time I drove it (maybe 20 miles) it seemed to run fine except for the overheating issue, So I put the new thermostat in and flushed the cooling system. Then the heat was fine. BUT the truck developed the leaking Valley pan... so that was replaced, at the same time the old headers where pulled off and the new headers put on. When I drove it to the shop to have the mufflers installed, it had the front 02 sensors hooked up (in the header) but the rears unplugged as the muffler was gone. It coded the p1316 on the way into town, and ran like crap the way home, with the rich issue. There might have been the issue on the way to the shop, but with the open header I didn't notice the black smoke. It was however have the idling issue at that point as seen in this very first video taken 5 minutes after the headers where bolted on and running open...

In fact you see no smoke in the video.....

Well, it will be a little harder for him to do since I have his original exhaust in my garage here in FL. So we both hope the problem isn't the exhaust!

Try unbolting the y-pipe from the headers, disconnecting the lower bank O2 sensors and see how she runs then. Can't hurt to try since it won't cost you any money, just time.

I can't remember. Did you have a leak down test performed? If you are willing to try, have a leak down test done and monitor the fuel pressure at the same time. The part that has me confused is that you never mention smelling raw fuel in the exhaust. Maybe you do and just left that out. If there is no smell of raw fuel, then I would assume the engine is not getting the airflow it needs for the increased fuel the headers are demanding. Just a hunch. You could pull the filter and see if the problem lessens...

edit...just my ramblings.
