Default Prepping for Dynamat Hoodliner

Just got it in today. My bonnet insulation is in rough shape and I took the advice in multiple threads re: Dynamat. Now, for those of you with successful installations, how did you prep the surface for installation?

I have it for years now. I can't recollect the details, but I'm sure I removed the old liner. I pronbaby pressure-washed the underside of the hood. At that time, I didn't own a pressure washer so I used the coin-op at the car wash. I used the soapy scrub-brush/broom thing at the car wash too -- not just touchless spray but scrub it and then rinse well. It had to thoroughly dry, so maybe the next day, but I'm sure I didn't do it in the fall/winter but in the summer heat. Then I'm sure I used non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner to remove any wax/oil/grease from the surface. Once that had evaporated I stuck it on -- again. in summer heat that was very quick. This time of year, watch out the solvents don't dissolve the adhesive.

Thank you! I have a pressure washer, but no brake cleaner...I will pick up some when I go get all the fuses I'm going to have to replace.

There was an incredible amount of grime I had to degrease and scrub off. Also some goo-gone to handle the duct tape residue from previous owner repairs. I have the mat adhered to the underside and am letting it sit for a while in the garage with a space heater before I flip it upside down and reinstall.
