Default PS Box Leak at input

My son's '97 D1 (132,000 miles) has a leak in the PS box at the input shaft. I've read the rave, but only need to replace that seal. Seems like the rave is a total rebuild. Any tips/shortcuts to not taking it apart further than I need to? The box is already out of the truck.

I'd bet it's more than just the dust seal. Since it's off the truck might as well take it apart and have a thorough look, then order the parts you need.

Thanks. Sounds like good advice. Any idea where I can purchase the special tools needed for the job. Or .... any ideas on more common tools that would do the trick?

hummmm
Change the fluid.
Put in Lucas transmission stop leak stuff too.
and I have heard just a dab of brake fluid.
Expands the old seals.

Yes - voodoo and not cool.
But, may work.
