Default Question about bad U-joint and transfercase/trans mounts

Ever driven a manual transmission vehicle with a bad motor mount or trans mount? it clunks every where when put into gear and such. My Disco does that but I don't see any perished mounts that are obvious. I only see 2 mounts on the T-case and none on the trans. Am I Missing something? What else could it be? If someone local wants to test drive it and tell me what they think I'd be appreciative.

Also, my Ujoint at the rear diff is perished. But I also have a high pitched metallic noise when driving, if I let off the gas or put it in neutral it goes away. Coming from U-Joint? And when I let off the gas or put it in neutral there is a sorta loud metallic noise. Best described as dragging a chain or heatshield for a split second. U-joint as well?

Thanks guys!

Are you still driving it like that? When you get those kind of noises, it is time to minimize the continued driving unless you are determined to thoroughly destroy whatever is acting up and lots more stuff along with it.

I'm prepared to fix whatever I break. I have no choice but to drive it. It hasn't gotten any worse.

These trucks clunked from the factory.
Thats just the way it is with a full time gear driven 4x4.
Replace all of your u-joints, check your tire pressure and make sure all the fluids are full.
85w-140 helps to quiet noisy gears.

If it were me I would just replace all the uj's and start servicing them on the correct intervals that way there is no question. It is cheap and easy to do (well getting them out is sometimes a pain) and is good insurance. I did all mine when I bought mine along with my 60k service. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

The '97's and '98's came with 4 u-joints, so did late model year '96's and early model year '99's.
No roto flex on those, just 4 good old greaseable u-joints.

my 97 has a rotoflex, but I think we determined they changed over mid 97
