Default Quick question

Does anyone know if the ultra gauge has a slow drain on the battery? After sitting for a few days, I couldn't get my rover started and it has a new battery. After a quick charge it was fine.

The OBDII connector gets battery volts from fuse F3 in fuse strip 2 inside the truck. Could meter that.

From Ultra Gauge manual, there are two "vehicle off" power settings:

For compatibility reasons, UltraGauge supports two modes to detect that the ignition is in the RUN position (power on). Normally when UltraGauge detects the power-on condition, UltraGauge exits its low power mode and enables the LCD and the Backlight and begins normal operation.
Mode 1: Mode 1 will always detect correctly, but uses more power while the vehicle is off. This mode should only be used if Mode 2 fails detection.

Mode 2: Mode 2 is the recommended mode and uses less power while the vehicle is off. Mode 2 is the factory default. Mode 2 is ignored for vehicles with 9141 and KWP2000 protocol.

If I just unplug it when not in use, will it reset itself?

This has not been reported by other users, so you may have another drain...

Don't know if it will drop all your program setups.

In my experience, unplugging the UltraGauage does not clear it's programs. But I've only had mine unplugged for a few days at a time. YMMV.

To track down a battery drain issue I just remove the positive terminal cable and then hook up an amp meter in series with it and the battery... Note the current (drain) reading... Now just start pulling fuses (one at a time) till you have a significant change is the amp meter reading... Start with the fuse block near the battery then move to the foot well fuse block... Just be sure to have only one fuse pulled for each meter check... Narrows the search of the drain source rather quickly...

It does not reset but it will need to sync with the ECU again.
My truck sits from Fri. night until Mon. morning in single digit temps and has no battery drain.

I think it just didn't have enough juice to start because it was very cold for the few days it sat + the slight drain from the ultra gauge. The night before it was -20 degrees.
