Default Rack Lights and Accessory Power Project...

I finally had a good few days to tackle the wiring. I drew up several plans, but I chose the one that worked for best for me. At this time it is done, but will be modified slightly as time comes. I will build a new bracket which will hold the fuse box and relays. A fuse/relay box is also in consideration. Also, I am waiting for the weather proof connectors, which will help make the rack easily removable/modular.

Some pics were taken though the day, which wasn't often. Some parts are rough, but have been taken care of today....enjoy....

Any particular reason you decided to run the wiring down the driver side pillar? Looks good regardless, it just would have saved a fair amount of wire, loom, and etc... to go down the side that has the battery on it.

Just a heads up too, when that adhesive zip tie piece on the rear comes off; and it will once it gets hot outside, just buy a roll of the 3M adhesive tape, cut it down to size and apply it in place of the old adhesive. The 3M stuff is a huge improvement, it had withstood many days of 110+ temperatures now.

got a closer shot of that relay/fuse box you added? or a link to buy?
ive been hunting for a good waterproof setup that included fuses and relays and didnt have much luck - all the marine stuff i found didnt have enough circuits in it.

Looks good but why didn't you clean up the area under the hood before you did all this?

Danny, you need to get out more! That engine bay is extremely clean for a D1 of its age. You'd have nightmares if you saw mine!

I ran it down the driver side to allow me to change the configuration, either moving the fuse box and relays to the interior and to run it with the future snorkel.....but the big factor...there was a hole in the harness boot made by the PO.

I definitely used the "grey" 3M adhesive tape. The stuff on those tabs are only good for household wiring. In our 100+ degree whether and direct hit with a pressure washer, they hold up really well. I did an experiment once, and that tape (right amount) can hold my weight!!!

I see we have experience with the good 3M stuff....
