Radio Woes...
Alright guys. So last week I installed my CB. I am currently grounded so just yesterday for the first time since then I attempted to turn on my stock radio. The head unit lit up like usual....but no sound. The more I listened, a small amount of sound was actually coming from the sub, but just the sub. Absolutely no speakers are working whether it be WeatherBand, Radio AM/FM, or CD Changer. I checked my fuses and pulled the head unit to make sure everything was plugged in. I unplugged the battery once more and re-entered security code, nada.
Could my installing the CB into the fuse box have contributed to this? While installing I obviously had the battery plugged/unplugged; could this have had negative affects too?
I suspect some of you Rave Masters may have the answer. I'm suspecting a potential loose ground. Thoughts?
Thanks ya'll

If you have the same basic system as my 1997 SE.... the head unit feeds an amplifier. That amp powers the speakers in the front doors and 'A' columns and the rears back by the rear cargo door.
The sub has its own amplifier (but the signal does route through the front amp).
I'd start looking at the amp (passenger footwell, right side behind glove box).

If you head unit has power, then you speakers should have power also. I would check your antennae connection if you aren't getting anything. When you say sound do you mean actual music or words or like static-like sound?
first question is where did you pull power and ground for the cb for?
wouldnt be any concern of loose grounds on the radio if that was never tapped into for the cb install.
for my install (granted, its mounted where sunroof switches would go... so up top) i used the dome light power/ground and didnt have any issues.

To test if there is an amplified signal to the speakers, buy a $2 speaker at any auto parts store and connect it where the stock speaker would be. If you have sound, your speakers are shot. No sound means it could be wiring or a blown amp.
