Default rant and realization

So yeah my Disco gives me issues. It drinks premium. It has quirky electronics. It can be expensive to fix issues. Its not as big as an Excursion. It doesn't have the power of a 350 small block. Its got 160k mi.

Well after driving my 86 chevy all weekend it made me love my Disco even more. The chevy is loud. Drinks gas faster. Stalls out when you hit the gas. Wipers suck. Dim instrument lights. Rides rough. Smells like exhaust/mildew/gas/truck. Floats all over the road. Brakes suck etc. I love my chevy as a work truck and I bought it to fix and sell.

Well I got in the Disco tonight. And took it around the back roads for a spin. I realized I missed the smooth ride. The smooth shifts. The fact I didn't have to pump the pedal to start it. The decent radio. The dual climate. The high commanding seats. The sunroofs. And the lists goes on.

I guess the whole point is while we can have headaches and hassles. We could always be driving something worse.

I too like the quirkiness of the Disco. I will probably never get rid of it until the wheels fall off (which they probably will some day) but I can't really imagine ever owning another one.

I think driving a beat up '86 Chevy that needs new wiper blades, and has fuel, electrical, exhaust, and steering problems, on top of an apparent mildew issue, would make you appreciate just about anything.

Unless you have a F250, which is slightly lower on the food chain. My D1 even gets better mpg.... 0-60 in 3.2 gallons

Sounds like my '86 Dodge 3/4 ton 2wd that has more blowby on each individual cylinder than my Disco has on all 8 combined.

Dude...I loved that truck. I had the typical beige exterior/interior, 4-on-the floor. It was simple and rough on the edges. The bench seat was a chick magnet....

The guy I sold "The Donor" to had a problem with it a week or so ago, he went to leave for work and he turned the key and nothing happened, all the lights came on but it did not crank, nor even click, nothing.
So he bummed a ride to work.
After he got home he was going to jump start it and figured he try one more time and she fired right up like nothing was ever wrong.
He told me and I laughed, "Yup, thats going to happen, mine does it too. Dont worry about it, it's a Rover thing"
Then I told him had he kept trying she would have started, he loves that truck.

I think it's their way of testing our loyalty to them...
