Read this if you have a High Idle
I am so doing this. How ever question, I remember reading somewhere that you have to replace the alarm ecu with the ecm at the same time from the same vehicle. Something like they are linked with codes some how.
or at least a cleaned up version made into a sticky. I just realized I never found it when I searched because the search was only looking at the last two weeks. Silly me.
So if I have to replace a component that requires the ECM to be reset, what affordable program is out there that I can purchase. I cannot go to a Stealership(well, I could, but it would cost me $1300 in travel costs alone).

Well Spencer fish it was your post about pulling the ecu and then later pulling the alarm ecu to make it start that brought your idle back to normal. So never mind i answered by own question.
You can't. He thought he did but it didn't work out. Testbook or Autologic are the only way to get it done. Testbook is the dealer software so I prefer it. But that's just me.
He is correct. Im no guru. Only play with stuff untill I figure something out.
Spence I was just stating what I thought I remembered. You didn't find a way to reset the ECU that I am unaware of did you? You finally resolved your issue with the proper mating of the new ECU and Alarm Module correct? I just want to clarify in case i was wrong.
Thats right. But pulling the big black wiring harness from the ecu with the key turned on and plugging it back in caused the truck to idle about normal. But then it would work its way back up eventually MAYBE my ECU was bad?
