Default Rear bulb failure

How do I replace the rear brake light bulb on a 1999 land rover discovery?

Well since there are 2 brake light bulbs on each side we kinda need to know which one it is.

Just remove the lenses and replace any bulb in sets so they stay at the same brightness, also replace any that are getting black just prior to failing.

Well, if you have rear jump seats, you have to be a contortionist to get the lenses out. There is an access panel inside, that you reach into and take off two wing nuts or plastic nuts(can't remember). Then the whole lens housings comes off. There is a white plastic piece that holds each bulb. It twists 1/8 turn or so and pops off.

It was a big enough pain getting the lens out I replaced all the bulbs while it was out.

There are bulbs in the rear quarter panel as well as the rear bumper.
How to change the bulbs depends on where the bulb is.

Not sure. Might want to try the LR3 forum. Most of us only have D1s
