Default Rear A/C question.

So I looked through the RAVE and saw the rear air has a blower motor on the drivers side by the rear jump seat. It sounds/feels like it needs either compressor oil or rebuilt, lots of sound and vib. It looks easy to access but anyone with prior knowledge of the what and why would be of great help here if you've had this issue. Thanks from AZ.

Do you have shop manual?
I have striped and cut up a 95 and gathering all the parts to put a 96 shell on the 95 frame.
It is easy to take the trim off to get at the blower motor. There is no compressor at the back just the AC rad and blower. The brass bearings and the shaft could be in conflict, ie take the motor out and see how much up and down and see if there is rust on shaft. If so take motor apart get "OOO" grade sand paper and polish the shaft put it back a drop of 3 in one oil and it should be good. Or if you are rich buy a motor. ebay Uk has sellers how ship to Canada so they should ship to USA, not sure if they will take your money. I have an order coming over that is 2kg in weight and has cost £35 just for freight. That is $80 cdn probably $100 US. But if you buy enough its cheap.

Perfect, thanks Burl. Yes I've got the RAVE and can see how/where I need to take it apart and did read what the possible issues may be but thanks for giving me a place to start with the fix.

Hey!

I dont mean to hijack this thread but if you bust into that box can you take some pictures of the guts and post them?

I busted one of the refrigerant lines going into the rear unit from the underside by mistake when I was horsing around a new exhaust for it. Now that it is warm it has suddenly become a priority, lol. From the RAVE it looks like I might be able to get away with making a new line but pics would show for sure.

Any pics would be greatly appreciated!

Have a replacement blower motor ready to install, that noise is somewhat common and it is caused by the blower motor bearing failing.

Cool, had a feeling that's what I was hearing, luckily the front is working great and prob won't be something I tear into until after the temps fall below 110 here as I don't want to screw it up and, it's my DD plus, there are many other things that take priority. Thanks Mike.
